BAG Blog

Well, I have (I think) finally done something about this. Bill was just so keen to twitter, blog, flickr or facebook - how could I let him down?

My solution is to use Flickr. Flickr lets you post photos and have discussions about topics, so you can post photos of your paintings and ask for advice, ask about different media, discuss exhibitions/TV programs on art, and so on. You can make suggestions about the running of the group, discuss proposals etc. But it does rely on a reasonable number of us taking part - otherwise Bill will just be answering his own questions!!!

Initially, I have locked our Bollington Art Group Flickr group down so that only those who join can see paintings and discussions and only members will be allowed to join. I guess it will probably stay like that. So you won’t see anything unless you are a member and sign up for it.

So folks, what do you have to do? Flickr belongs to Yahoo, and we are a subgroup of Flickr. You may already be a member of Yahoo and Flickr, but sadly you have to join all three for this to work. Here goes...

  1. If you don’t already have a Yahoo account, then Sign Up via this Yahoo link, then sign in
  2. If you don’t already belong to Flickr, then Create an Account via this Flick link, and sign in
  3. Finally join our BAG Flickr group via this BAG Flickr link - use the Join this Group menu item at the top
  4. Your request to join our group will be automatically forwarded to the group administrators - currently just me, but I am hoping to rope in a couple of other committee members.
  5. On receipt of the application, we check you are a fully paid up member of the art group then authorise your application.
  6. You are sent an email confirmation of your membership and can then log into the group and join in.
  7. Don’t expect instant access - it can take a day or two for us to get round to authorising you!
  8. Once in, please make sure that if you post any images you don’t break any copyright laws and ‘be nice to each other’.

So come on make Bill’s day!!! Who is going to be first?

I will try to help if you are really struggling with the process - email me at the bagwebmaster address on the Contacts page.
