For members...

As always I recommend you read the Notices page at the very least and your feedback is welcome. Please email me at the webmaster email address on the Contacts page.

                          ANNUAL EXHIBITION - JUNE 24TH - 27TH

All your submissions for the Exhibition have now been received and are being collated ready for the big day on Thursday, 24th June.

See the Exhibition webpage for more information.

The final classes of the year have or are about to commence, see Notices.

During the summer break the Committee will be reviewing the past year and the outcome of the exhibition as well as finalising next year’s programme. The Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, September 6th at 7.30pm in Bollington Civic Hall. Please make a note in your diaries. All members will receive notification of this during August when we also ask if any members would like to become Committee members; so here is your chance!

And for any non- member readers who happen by here, this is a bit about us.....

Bollington Art Group was established many years ago by a group of Bollington artists. Currently the group is thriving and successfully meeting twice a week from September to July.

Happily (or sadly) we are a victim of our own success. Our membership has now grown so large that we are finding our sessions are bursting at the seams and so we just cannot accommodate any new members. However, if you are interested in joining, then please contact one of the Committee members featured on the Contacts page and they will be happy to add you to our waiting list and keep you posted if vacancies occur.

Meetings are held on Mondays from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the Civic Hall and on Wednesdays from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Arts Centre.

Membership subscription is currently £20 per year and there is a modest charge for each session.

The programme consists of various sessions lasting 5 to 6 weeks, which are tutored by a professional artist or art teacher and several one-off demonstrations or lectures.

Sessions and one-offs cover various topics.  For example, sometimes we might be learning how to improve our watercolour techniques, whereas at others we might be working on portraits in any medium. Visitors are always welcome to the one-offs, so even if you are not a member, you are welcome to come on the night. Obviously, it would be best to confirm with a committee member (see Contacts page) just to check that the lecture or demo is still going ahead.

We are a very welcoming group and always try to make our members feel at home. We have members with a wide range of experience and skills. However, we can all learn. For example, some are excellent at landscapes, but struggle with portraits, others are a whizz with oils, but find watercolours hard. So new members should never feel daunted, whatever their skill level.

Each year we hold an annual exhibition of our work and are sometimes asked to put on displays at local venues.
